The Ultimate Hackathon for Ontario's Youth

STEM Hacks is a yearly competition organized by Mathstronauts, where groups of 4 to 5 participants come together to tackle an exciting hands-on design and development challenge focused on STEM

With guidance from mentors from universities or industries, student teams develop solutions to a given problem and present them to a panel of judges. They are evaluated based on the teams’ knowledge, technical skills, and creativity in designAt the final ceremony, the top projects are showcased, and prizes are awarded to the most outstanding designs.

How do I register?

Click the “Register Now” button on this page and complete the online form. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your registration is submitted.

Can I register as an individual or do I need a team?

You can register as a team or individual. Teams will be formed before the event (or specify if participants must form their own teams).

Can teachers or parents register students?

Yes, teachers and parents can register students on their behalf, with the student’s consent.

What will participants do during STEM Hacks?

Students will work in teams to brainstorm, design, and present a STEM-based solution to a given challenge. Mentors will guide them throughout the event.

Do I need to bring anything?

Will food be provided?

Yes, lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the event (if applicable).

What if I’ve never participated in a hackathon before?

No problem! STEM Hacks is beginner-friendly. Mentors will guide you every step of the way.

How are projects judged?

Projects are evaluated based on creativity, teamwork, innovation, and impact. Judges include STEM professionals and educators.

Will there be prizes?

Yes! Prizes will be awarded to top teams based on creativity, innovation, and presentation.
